Jack Daniels

Jack Daniel's will once again bring a "Taste of Tennessee" to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this year as official sponsor of the 2010 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and presenting sponsor of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Mayor's Ride. We invite motorcycle enthusiasts and visitors to come out and tour the nation's oldest registered distillery from outside the Jack Daniel's Hollow.

The Jack Daniel's Experience, a mobile museum, is bringing a little of the much-loved distillery from Lynchburg to Sturgis. You'll learn who Mr. Jack Daniel was and how he ended up with the best selling whiskey in the world. You'll see (and smell) whiskey dripping slowly through charcoal and the new oak barrels used in maturing Tennessee's finest whiskey. "This year at the Jack Daniel's Experience, we'll have a few of our good friends from Lynchburg, Tennessee, here to share some of Jack's best stories," said Dave Stang, Jack Daniel's sponsorship director. "Once you tour the Experience and spend some time with the folks from Jack, it'll make you want to plan a ride through the hills of Tennessee to see how and where we've made Jack Daniel's since 1866."

The Experience is open to all folks, 21 years old and up, for tours free of charge throughout the rally. There will be a licensed Jack Daniel's merchandise vendor on-site with Jack apparel, bike items, and other unique pieces. Games and giveaways will also be part of the entertainment at various times throughout the Rally. Stop by to get your boots shined and see the 2010 Harley Jack Daniel’s Fire Brigade Harley. As always, those over the age of 21 years old will be able to purchase a refreshing Jack Daniel's Country Cocktail from the bar, run by our friends at the local grocery mart.

"Ever since Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey was founded, it has stood for authenticity, Americana and freedom. And that's exactly why Jack Daniel's is proud to be part of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally," said Stang.

Officially registered by the U.S. Government in 1866, the Jack Daniel Distillery, Lem Motlow proprietor, is the oldest registered distillery in the United States and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in Lynchburg, Tenn. (pop. 361), the Jack Daniel Distillery is the maker of the world-famous Jack Daniel Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey, and Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey.

SD Pork Council

Pork. The Other White Meat® is proud to be the official meat of the 2010 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. We hope that you enjoy the pork products featured throughout the Rally and that you take home some great recipe ideas. Be sure to visit TheOtherWhiteMeat.com for more lip-smacking recipe ideas.

The South Dakota Pork Producers Council was established in 1954, when pork farmers realized the value of promoting their product. The famous tagline, Pork. The Other White Meat®, is the fifth most recognizable tagline in American advertising, and is a result of the Pork Checkoff's promotional efforts.

Our mission is to responsibly serve, support and enhance the success of the South Dakota pork production industry by managing industry issues to successful conclusions, improving the image of the industry and insuring a safe, wholesome and quality product through a unified & engaged membership.

United States pork farmers care. They breathe the same air and drink the same water as you, so they are committed to ensuring their practices protect public health, contribute to a better quality of life in their communities and safeguard natural resources. They also promise to protect and promote animal well-being, produce safe food, and provide a safe work environment.

South Dakota pork farmers make a difference in our community. South Dakota pork farmers will bring 2.3 million hogs to market this year. The pork industry has an economic impact in South Dakota of $368 million and accounts for over 6,900 jobs for farm families, processors and supporting services in the state.

Pork is a very nutritious and versatile protein. Pork is 46% leaner than 50 years ago. In fact, through efforts in feeding and management practices by pork farmers, six of the most common cuts of pork are leaner than a chicken thigh. The pork tenderloin is just as lean as a skinless chicken breast. You can find hundreds of delicious, easy-to-prepare pork recipes, like southwestern grilled pork tenderloin, at TheOtherWhiteMeat.com. Healthy, lean and packed full of nutrients, we encourage you to make pork the meat of choice.

Tom's T's Tom's T's

The Olympics have "it". Daytona and Laconia rallies have "it". The Boston Marathon has gone to court to protect "it". "It" is the "Official Logo" of an event - the registered mark that represents the official hosting agency. The logo is granted to products approved by the official licensing agent, and money received is used for purposes determined by the owner group.

The "Official Logo" for the Sturgis Rally was originally designed and developed by Tom Monahan as a vehicle to help fund the Black Hills Motorcycle Classic. Tom gave the logo to the Sturgis Chamber in 1986. As owner of Tom's T's, Tom volunteered in 1986 to give $2.00 to the Sturgis Chamber for each t-shirt sold that was imprinted with the licensed and registered Black Hills Motor Classic logo.

This led to the current licensing procedure in which a portion of the money from a customer's purchase of a licensed product is returned in royalties to support the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and improve the Sturgis community. This year, Tom's T's continues as a member of the prestigious ranks of "Official Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Sponsors" as the exclusive t-shirt of the 2010 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Stop by our store at 1117 Main Street when you're passing through and let Tom personally welcome you to Sturgis or order on-line at www.tomsts.com!

Thinking outside the shop

This year, FFJournal, the magazine for today's metal fabricating and forming technology, will bring the passion and pride of the manufacturing industry to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. At the FFJournal tent on Lazalle St., both current and future fabricators and formers will be able to meet industry innovators and learn techniques to improve their skills.

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the fabricators that have appeared on FFJournal TV's Garage Shop Fabricator series. All Garage Shop Fabricators, including Allen Miles, Bryan Stalcup and Ken Imhoff, use their manufacturing skills to accomplish extraordinary feats of fabrication. Miles creates sculptures from antique metal parts, old engines and scrap metal; Imhoff fabricated a Lamborghini Countach 5000 replica from scratch in his basement; and Stalcup built a hubless chopper by hand, which he is entering in this year's Bike Builder Show. Working on a unique project? Sign up to be the next Garage Shop Fabricator at the event.

All three Garage Shop Fabricators come from a tradition of manufacturing: Miles has been a fabricator his whole life, Imhoff's first job out of high school was in a machine shop, and Stalcup and his brother began tinkering on cars and bikes at a young age.

Do it yourself

It's important for all fabricators, from those who are just starting out in the industry to lifetime veterans, to be familiar with the tools of the trade so that they can follow in Miles, Imhoff, and Stalcup's footsteps. At the FFJournal tent, exhibitors will share ideas with attendees, helping them learn about interesting and innovative metalworking products and techniques.

Among these exhibitors, Edwards Mfg. Co., Albert Lea, Minn., will introduce a new line of American-made hydraulic accessory tools that were designed specifically for the Garage Shop Fabricator. The company's 10-ton bender and 40-ton shop press are instant plug-and-play tools, which expands shop capabilities without breaking the budget.

Esab Welding & Cutting Products, Florence, S.C., will set up its Solutions Tour Truck, which will provide practical hands-on demonstrations and help every fabricator get the most out of his welding and cutting equipment.

And Scotchman Industries, Philip, S.D., will feature its new 5014-CM five-station, 50-ton ironworker, CPO 350 circular cold saw and SH 1016 band saw. The company will be demonstrating and teaching new techniques to

"Our equipment is used by numerous custom bike and car builders worldwide, large and small -- from big business to the hobby enthusiast," Scotchman Industries pointed out in a press release.

Educational mini-seminars will be scheduled and streamed live in conjunction with KickStart TV from the FFJournal tent. Ride with us on Twitter to receive up-to-the-minute updates on the event. We look forward to seeing you there.
